Erik Åkesson

Erik holds a Bachelor degree from the three-year Sports Coaching Program at Dalarna University, specializing in performance. Alongside his own elite-level mountainbike career, he currently works as a high performance coach for D-VELO-P and as a coach at Swedens biggest High School for cycling juniors; Hagströmska Gymnasiet.

Cycling, especially mountain biking, has always been a part of his life. He was on a start line for the first time at the age of three. Since then, his interest in the sport has grown stronger every day, month, and year. Besides competing at an elite and World Cup level in XCM and at the swedish XCO scene, he is passionate about helping others achieve their athletic goals.

Raised in the forests (or fields) of Västmanland county, near lake Mälaren, he moved to the bicycle capital of Sweden, Falun, in 2013 to study at Hagströmska Cycling High School. After three years there and two years back home in Sala, his longing for Sweden's cycling paradise was too strong to ignore, and he moved back to Falun to start his studies to become the passionate cycling coach he is today.
