Critical Power (CP) and Anaerobic Capacity (W’) can be tested using your own power meter, either indoors or outdoors, provided you know how to conduct the test properly and analyze the test data. Once you know your CP and W’, it becomes possible to determine with much greater accuracy (compared to, for example, a 20-minute FTP test) which type of training focus suits you best, create individualized training zones, and plan sessions tailored specifically for you.
We start with a 30-minute session explaining how to perform the two test rounds. If you connect a TrainingPeaks account with us, we can schedule the test appropriately within your training plan and suggest training sessions for the two days leading up to the test. Afterward, you send us your test data, and we will return an analysis and documentation within a week. We then spend 30 minutes reviewing how you should interpret the results.
Generally, we recommend 2–4 test rounds per year to maximize the benefits of your testing, though even a single test provides valuable information.
